Q: Today we will focus on your new line of wearable art clothing. Please tell us about Dressed Up Hippy Art and Designs. What makes your store and clothing line unique?
Misti Flowers: Dressed Up Hippy is all about celebrating free-spirited style with a refined edge. My pieces combine boho soul with vibrant, wearable art—think flowy dresses, statement tops, and standout bags made from high-end satin and polyester blends perfect for sublimation printing. Every design is meant to feel expressive, affordable, and easy to wear. It’s about helping people feel beautiful and bold in what they wear, without losing that earthy, creative vibe.
Q: The name is so distinctive. Why “Dressed Up Hippy”?
I’ve always connected deeply with my inner hippy – freedom, nature, creativity, and authenticity. But I also love the feeling of dressing up, adding intention and artistry to what we wear. The name Dressed Up Hippy bridges both worlds. It reflects who I am: earthy and grounded in artistic roots, but drawn to beauty and elevated design.
Q: You’re also a jewelry designer—how did that evolve into clothing and bags?
Jewelry was my first creative love. I started my journey with the intention of creating beautiful pieces made from the organic materials provided by Mother Earth such as authentic stones, organic hemp, copper and silver. Over time, I started imagining full outfits that complemented the pieces I was making. I saw a natural extension from accessories to full garments that still carried the same free spirit. Creating the clothing line allowed me to expand the storytelling—bringing color, texture, and art into every layer of how someone dresses.
Q: What inspires your designs?
Nature is a constant muse—sunlit mornings, playful animals, beautiful flowers, the flicker of torch flames on metal. My work often begins with a mood or memory: maybe a peaceful walk, a moment of joy, or even a song lyric. I also draw from the playful spontaneity of my inner artist, the child within who loves colors and creating from her soul.
Q: What materials do you use and why did you choose sublimation printing?
I use high-end satin and poly blends that feel luxurious but hold vibrant prints beautifully. Sublimation allows me to translate my artwork—whether it’s hand-painted or digitally enhanced personal photos—directly onto fabric with stunning clarity and colorfastness. It’s an ideal medium for creating wearable art that lasts and feels special.
Q: What’s your vision for Dressed Up Hippy moving forward?
I’d love to see the line carried in boutiques that appreciate artful, soulful fashion. I want to continue expanding the collection thoughtfully—more seasonal drops, maybe even a men’s or unisex line down the road. But most importantly, I want to keep creating pieces that connect with people. Clothing that feels like a little piece of magic and art that you can wear.
Q: Any words of advice for others wanting to turn their creativity into a brand?
Stay true to your vision and originality. Create with love, with care, and with the kind of authenticity that can’t be faked. That’s what people feel and respond to the most.
