✨ Embracing the Paradox: The Art of Being Many Things at Once
by Misti | Dressed Up Hippy
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about contradictions—or what I used to think were contradictions.
I can spend the morning painting whimsical frogs having tea parties in soft watercolor pastels, and by afternoon I’m designing bold, glam tie-dye leggings that look like the cosmos had a glitter explosion. Some days I’m barefoot in the garden, elbows deep in compost and inspiration, and other days I’m channeling fierce fashion energy with golden sparkle spirals and satin silhouettes.
And for a long time, I tried to choose.
As if one part of me was more real than the other.
As if creativity was a box and not a galaxy.
🌻 A Collage, Not a Contradiction
But here’s what I’m learning:
What looks like contradiction is actually coexistence.
What seems like chaos is actually a collage.
I’ve stopped trying to tame the dualities. The earthy and the glam. The soft-spoken forest spirit and the loud, laughing designer. They’re not at odds. They’re dancing.
Because the deeper truth is this:
All of it flows from the same source.
A thread of color, curiosity, and soul.
The more I create, the more I realize my work is not meant to be one-note. My inner world isn’t beige. It’s a kaleidoscope.
And every piece—whether it’s a dreamy children’s print, a dressed-up boho dress, or a deeply personal design—is a facet of the same gem. Me.
So no, I don’t need to choose between playful or polished. Between wild and refined.
I get to be both.
And so do you.
🌈 An Invitation to Embrace Your Full Spectrum
So here’s my invitation to you:
Think about the parts of yourself that feel like they “don’t go together.”
The dreamer and the doer. The soft and the strong. The grounded and the glam.
What if they’re not contradictions, but coordinates on the map of your magic?
Let them all show up. Let them create, speak, dance, design, and live.
You’re not meant to be a single shade.
You’re the whole beautiful palette.
Let’s stop choosing sides and start honoring the whole spectrum.
There’s space for all of you here. Always. 🌿✨
